1 – Brief description of your organisation and your main responsibility in the project
In 2020, on the island of Mallorca, Nauta Morgau was born. A small workshop of two people that has currently become a team made up of riverside carpenters, engineers and support staff, where we give free rein to our passion and creativity.
At Nauta Morgau we design and build classic, current, Mediterranean-style boats with real sustainability as a pillar. We focus on the construction of electric boats in their different activities: recreational and ecological tourism, travel in natural parks and protected areas, professional uses in ports, etc.
The Nauta Morgau are designed and built by a team that continually complements, learns and researches to achieve a more sustainable and efficient solution to the production of recreational boats.
Currently we have specialized in construction with vegetable composites, such as flax or hemp. Our boats are produced in series, by molding with plant fibers, bio-based resins and using the infusion technique.
Likewise, at Nauta Morgau we will make our knowledge of sustainable materials and green skills available to the project. And consequently, lead WP3, identify green skills gaps and co-lead WP4, VET course development.
2 – Brief words about why you think this project is necessary
At Nauta Morgau we think that projects like TecoNaut are essential to reverse the devastating effects that the traditional naval industry has caused on the sea. It is urgent to provide cleaner, more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions and to do so it is key to have an active, not passive, role in protecting our planet. In this context, TecoNaut is more evident than ever in being able to count on professionals trained in sustainable boat construction.
