This year, for the first time, Sea Teach and ANEN/AENIB, established a venue for discourse, knowledge exchange, and professional networking at the Palma International Boatshow. A space called Blue Horizon Plaza was born to discuss sustainability in the nautical sector with a vocation for continuity.
Under this initiative, experts, decision-makers, stakeholders, and representatives of sustainable initiatives gathered to discuss key aspects of the green/blue transition, including innovation, technology, collaboration and cooperation, education and capacity building, and marine conservation.
Blue Horizon Plaza seeks to connect innovation, education, industry, and sustainability in the marine sector during the Palma International Boatshow. Over four days, from April 25 to 28, key topics were explored, including: Innovation and the circular economy; collaboration among industry stakeholders; Education and training for new generations; and Conservation of the Mediterranean.
We were pleased to present the TEcoNaut project to an audience of institutional representatives and professionals, outline its accomplishments and forthcoming initiatives, and raise awareness of sustainable materials and practices, as well as the importance of both local and international collaboration to facilitate a transition towards sustainability.
Our partners, Jordi Sintes from SOIB, Jordi Carrasco from ANEN, and Luca Jendrek from Sea Teach, explained the project, emphasised the significance of advanced and sustainable materials such as linen and volcanic fibre, underscored the necessity for additional research on the subject, and advocated for capacity building and training, which the project aims to promote.
As in previous years, the Palma Boatshow provided an excellent opportunity to engage with partners, establish new professional relationships, and find inspiration to continue efforts towards a more sustainable maritime sector.
